Busan City has unveiled a new minivan taxi which can carry nine passengers at one time.

The minivan taxi will begin service from October to improve passenger convenience. Citizens will also be encouraged to use the new taxi cabs.

The new taxi cabs, which are similar to nine-seat minivans such as the Starex, Rodius and Carnival, will be equipped with wireless communication systems, credit card terminals and receipt dispensers. The minivan taxis, painted black with yellow lights on top, will come to your location at your call if directions are given. The taxis will use the network of the brand--taxi service "Deungdae Call." The fares are likely to be 4,200 won ($4.49) for the first 3 kilometers and 200 won (21 cents) for additional 199 meters or 48 seconds, which is the same as those of Korea's deluxe taxis. Busan plans to operate 20 to 30 minivan taxis from October.
