A new exhibit is on display at the Busan Modern History Museum that brings the past into the present. The busy streets of Daecheong-dong in the Jung-gu district of Busan during the 1930's have been recreated for visitors to the museum.

The "1930's Busan" exhibit is an installation piece set up on a 100㎡ floor space of the third floor. At the center of the exhibit is the Busan branch of the Japanese-run Dongyangcheoksik Corporaton, which was finished in 1929, and branching out from that building are various stores and landmarks from that time period. The entire display was built to scale at fifty percent actual size.

Electric streetcars are also included in the exhibit at eighty percent original size. Visitors can take photographs on the streetcars and watch video of the real Busan in the 1930's provided inside.

"We have mostly had documents on display at our Modern History Museum," a museum spokesperson explained. "We are hoping that this model of Busan will make modern history more approachable to our patrons."
