Pret-a-Porter Busan kicks off in the port city on Oct. 31 and will continue through Nov. 2.
Six designers from the local fashion scene and six from abroad will be unveiling their 2007 Spring/Summer collections at the BEXCO.
Busan-based Seo Soon-nam will send down a collection of classic day and evening wear created from a palette of earthy tones and accented with navy, dark red, and greens. Latulle by Cho Sung-kyung is to follow with his staging of “
Day two will feature top Chinese designer Wenbo Ji, popular Korean designer Son Jung-wan, French Pierre-Henri Mattout and New Yorker Richard Chai.
Chai, who has designed for Marc Jacobs and also the former creative director of TSE, is known for his sophisticated and wearable women’s wear.
Alongside Derek Lam and Peter Som, Chai is responsible for the new wave of up-and-coming Asian designers on the international fashion scene. On the final day will see the work of Shin Jang-kyung, London-based Danish Peter Jensen and renowned Japanese designer Kohshin Satoh. A collective presentation by up-and-coming Busan designers, Lee Jong-chul, Rah Se-young, Shin Jung-sook and Jung Young-won, will bring the three-affair to an end.
Pret-a-Porter Busan is hosted by the city and the Busan Federation of Textile & Fashion Industry.
Event organizer Toh Shin-woo, Model Center International chairman, says he has high hopes for this year’s events.
