Hyundai Merchant Marine Co., Korea's leading shipping line, plans to operate a new Asia-Australia route with three foreign shippers in October, a company spokesman said Sunday (Sept. 17).
The four shipping firms, including Germany's Hamburg Sud and Hapag-Lloyd AG, and China's Shandong Yantai International Marine Shipping Co., combined their existing routes to launch the Asia-Australia service.
The spokesman said the operation will begin on Oct. 31.
He said container vessels will call at Hong Kong, the Korean port city of Busan, China's Shanghai and Ningbo, Australian cities of Melbourne, Sidney and Brisbane, Manila in the Philippines, and return to Hong Kong once a week.
He said the company will be able to connect key logistics markets worldwide with the operation of the new route, expecting a rise in the cargo volumes.
