Busan
has been selected to host the 2018 FISM World Championship of Magic in 2018,
following concerted efforts by the city, Busan Tourism Organization, Korea
Tourism Organization, and the Organizing Committee of Busan International Magic
Festival.
The
City of Busan was selected as the venue for the FISM 2018 WCM over Helsinki,
Finland on July 11, 2015, at FISM’s 26th World Championships of
Magic in Rimini, Italy.
Busan’s
magic industry is developing into the largest in Asia thanks to the annual
Busan International Magic Festival (BIMF). With the skills and know-how the
city has acquired to put on and organize the BIMF, the FISM 2018 WCM will be a
global festival not only for magicians, but for everyone around the world.
Busan has the best possible conditions for the FISM 2018 WCM: outstanding
tourism and convention infrastructure, convenient transportation, etc. All
these factors contributed to Busan being selected to host the FISM 2018 WCM.
The
International president of FISM Domenico Dante said that he was impressed by
the passion and continuous efforts of the bidding group from Busan, and the
deep affection of both the city and citizens towards BIMF, which is held every
year in Busan.
About 5,000 people, including magicians, magic developers, and magic directors will participate in the FISM, which is held every 3 years. There will be over 100 magic shows, related seminars and workshops along with the FISM General Assembly during the festival. This is the largest magic-related festival in the world.
