○ Why is the new zip code system introduced?

- With the effects of the road name address system on Jan 1, 2014, a national basic area code system is introduced, which a 5-digit area code is assigned to each basic area. The national basic area code will be used as new zip code.

 

○ What does the new zip code mean?

- The first three numbers indicate cities, provinces and districts while the rest two numbers are attributed successively to each basic area within the district.

 

○ What is good about using the new zip code?

- The new zip code helps to optimize the delivery routes so that mails get delivered more quickly and accurately. Also, it will be much easier and convenient to find locations since all the public organizations use same area code system.

 

○ How to search for the new zip code?

- Internet Post Office Website (www.epost.kr)

Korea Post Portal (www.koreapost.kr) and home pages of post offices around the country

  Road Name Address Website (www.juso.go.kr)
