Busan in final running for OIympic meeting

The IOC Executive Board has confirmed Busan as one of nine candidate cities to host the 13th Olympic Congress in 2009. The decision was made last Friday in Lausanne, Switzerland by the International Olympic Committee.

 

The IOC originally intended to select four to five cities from a list of 12, but because of close competition, the IOC was only able to drop three cities that were bidding. The three cities that failed to make it to the final list are Prague, Warsaw, and Madrid.

 

The nine cities left in the running are Busan, Athens, Cairo, Copenhagen, Lausanne, Mexico City, Riga, Taipei and Singapore.
