Peace Park, one of the three parks built to mark Busan's hosting of APEC Summit next month, will be open to the public in a ceremony Friday (Oct. 28).

The park, constructed in seven months at a cost of 31.7 billion won, is situated south of the U.N. Memorial Cemetery, the only graveyard built under the international organization's auspices.

The Peace Park was created on a lot of some 30,000 square meters and equipped with a pagoda, an eco-pond, a promenade and a lawn square. Two other parks constructed to mark the APEC Summit – Dongbaek Island and APEC Naru – were dedicated last week.

The Busan city government also refurbished the U.N. Cemetery, where the fallen heroes from the Korean War are buried, and where some participants in the APEC meeting are expected to visit to pay homage.
