Busan City and Busan Foundation for International Activities or BFIA will provide opportunities for foreign residents in Busan to learn and enjoy traditional Korean culture free of charge.

To begin with, the city will stage a performance titled "Our Melody on Our Ground" on the Jonggak Stage at Mt. Yongdu Park in September and October. The two-hour performance, which consists of exciting traditional music, dance and percussion, will be held at 3 p.m. on Sept. 7, 21 and 28 and Oct. 5, 12 and 19. Tel: 051-888-3392

BFIA will hold a taekkyeon (the original version of taekwondo) lesson at 3 p.m. on Oct. 10, as well as one on making traditional masks, also at 3 p.m. on Oct. 8.

Taekkyeon is Korea's intangible cultural property No. 76 as the nation's ancient martial art, and participants will be able to learn such key motions as kicking, throwing and tripping.

In the mask-making lesson, the participants will learn about the origins and history of Korea's traditional masks and make them by themselves. Applications are being received. Tel: 051-888-6655
