The National Safe Hospital (Gukmin Anshim Hospital) Program has been adopted to effectively control MERS infections within hospitals by providing care for patients with respiratory diseases in secured areas. This program is expected to reduce the public fear of contracting MERS-CoV, and minimize the transmission of the virus in case of another outbreak.

 

On June 12, 87 hospitals were designated as National Safe Hospitals by the Ministry of Health and Welfare with another 74 being added as the result of a second round of applications.

   

A total of 161 hospitals, including 32 higher-grade general hospitals, 109 general hospitals and 20 smaller hospitals, will begin operating under the name of “National Safe Hospitals” as early as June 15, once they secure isolated areas and other necessary facilities.

National Safe Hospital (Gukmin Anshim Hospital): provide care for ordinary patients as well as patients with respiratory diseases while keeping them safe from MERS infections.
