Busan English Broadcasting Station to Host 2nd BeFM Multicultural Children’s Choir Contest (Postponed)

The Busan English Broadcasting Station will host the second BeFM Multicultural Children's Choir Contest on Saturday, July 4, at 2 p.m. at the Busan Cultural Center.

 

The Busan English Broadcasting Station, which has been striving to connect foreign residents in Busan with their Korean neighbors, is hosting the contest to bring Busanites and multicultural families closer together.

 

Busan-based vocal ensembles or children’s choirs from multicultural families or of multicultural and Korean families together are eligible to participate in the contest. Team members should be aged 5 to 13.

 

Songs to be entered should consist of less-than-3-minute children’s songs including traditional folk songs of the parents’ home country.

 

Registration is free of charge and begins on June 1 and runs until June 19. Applicants must send their performance video along with musical notes to contest***********  by email. 

 

About 10 teams will be selected for the finals after advancing through the preliminaries on Monday, June 22, 2015.

 

A total of 10 official contest prizes will be awarded:

 

1st place: 1,000,000 won

2nd place: 700,000 won

3rd place: 500,000 won in gift certificates (two awarded)

*A multicultural family is a family consisting of a foreign worker, a marriage immigrant, a North Korean defector or a foreign student according to documents issued in June 2006 by the Ministry of Education.
