TreX-Games draws IOC forum, other international meets

Key leaders of the global sports community will gather in Busan in September, when the city hosts the TreX-Games Busan 2008.

This is because the city will also play host to a series of related sports conferences during the Games period. For instance, Busan will host the 10th Asiania Sport For All Associations or ASFAA's general assembly and international academic meeting as well as the International Olympic Commission Forum for Sports, Education and Culture.

The 10th ASFAA general assembly and international academic conference will be held at Haeundae Grand Hotel between Sept. 28 and Oct. 1, under the theme of "Health, Education and Culture through Physical Activity and Games." It is to be chaired by Fung Zienjung, Chinese vice minister of sports, with its board of directors consisting of 10 dignitaries representing various walks of life. This year's general assembly and academic meeting is drawing particular interest as the world's top social sports leaders are expected to attend them.

The IOC Forum on Sports, Education and Culture will be held at BEXCO for three days beginning Sept. 25, followed by the "Busan Declaration on Promotion and Development of Traditional Sport and Games," at Beomeo Temple. All this means this city will play host to the general assemblies of international organizations, which starts with "Sports-IOC" and proceeds to "Culture-UNESCO" and "Health-WHO." The World TreXGames 2008, the stepping-stone for attracting all these international conferences, will take place between Sept. 26 and Oct. 2.

Busan City officials predicts the ASFAA assembly accompanied by academic meeting will be one of the biggest events of its kind, hoping they will serve as occasions to make the city's social sports activities known to the world as well as sharply enhancing its brand as a venue of international conferences.
