The fourth World Trex Games in Busan, which put traditional martial arts and folk plays from all over the world in one place, will be held in the biggest scale ever in history with the attendance of all of its 110 member nations.

According to Busan City and the Games' organizing committee, a total of 7,887 athletes from 105 countries have sent their applications as of June 30 to take part in the Trex Games, which will be held throughout this city, including BEXCO and Sajik Stadium between Sept. 26 and Oct. 2. Officials expect the number of participants will exceed 10,000 representing its entire membership of 110 countries, as there still is enough time left until its opening.

Featuring this year's event, to be held under the theme of "harmony of tradition and future for world peace and prosperity," will be various countries' martial arts, including Korea's taekkyeon, Thailand's Muay Thai, Russia's sambo and China's ushu, extreme games and mountain bikes and e-sports such as "Cartriders" and "Starcrafts," in the form of both competition and demonstration.

In addition, it will hold a 10-million-people-walkathon at 10 a.m. on Sept. 28, encouraging all participating countries to hold their respective walking events. In Korea, people will walk on a 6.5-km distance between Haeundae Olympic Park and Gwangan Grand Bridge.

The Busan Trex Games will not only be the biggest in scale but also upgrade its contents to a dimension higher, as the IOC has decided to be its official sponsor. Asiana Airlines and CJ Media Co. also signed sponsorship contracts with the city recently. Asiana has decided to provide 500 million won ($500,000) in cash plus discounted air tickets for 3,000 foreign participants.
