The
Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (ifa) [The Institute for Foreign Relations]
presents the exhibition » TRAVELLING THE
WORLD Art from Germany 1949 to the present. The exhibition is being co-hosted
by the Busan Museum of Art, Goethe-Institut Korea and ifa, and takes place at
the Busan Museum of Art from Thursday,
April 30 to Sunday, July 12, 2015.
Busan will be the third stop for the ifa’s TRAVELLING
THE WORLD exhibition, which was first held at the ZKM (Center for Art and Media
Technology) in Germany, and then the Moscow Museum of Modern Art in Russia. Following
the tour’s stop in Busan, the exhibition will travel to Israel.
The
exhibition features 316 contemporary works of art, from 1949 to the present, by
91 artists from the ifa collection. The ifa is located in Stuttgart, Germany.
Curator
Matthias Flügge, artist Else Gabriel and experts on exhibition installation
from ifa participated in planning and installing artworks for the exhibition in
Busan.
The
history of photography since the 1950s is succinctly presented in the ifa
collection. Of particular note is how the East-West German conflict exposed the
independent visual genre within East Germany’s centralist system.
The
exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Closed on Monday). Admission is
free.
