The Haeundae Sand Festival has been selected as one of Korea’s representative festivals, and won the 3rd Korea Festival Contents Awards in the festival tourism category on March 4 at Seoul City Hall.
The
Korea Festival Contents Association annually chooses from among 2000 of the
nation’s most outstanding festivals to present its awards which are aimed at
promoting regional festivals worldwide.
This
year, 20 awards were presented across five categories: festival tourism,
festival global, festival contents, festival economy, and festival art.
The
Haeundae Sand Festival has been going strong for 10 years and is the only eco
friendly festival focusing on sand in Korea. Approximately 1.8 million domestic
and overseas tourists came to the festival last year.
The
festival’s unique contents, contribution to the local economy, and artistic
value led to it receiving the Korea Festival Contents Award this year.
The Haeundae Sand Festival is scheduled to be held from May 29 – June 1, 2015, at Haeundae Beach.
