Busan Attracts APEC Climate Center

Busan, the venue for the 2005 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (AAEC) leaders’ meeting,Friday announced it attracted the APEC Climate Network (APCN), a research center for climate prediction.

Four cities, including Busan, were in competition for the international organization, which aims to establish a well-validated multi-model ensemble system for short-term climate prediction.

Research results will be provided to APEC members.

Busan will assist in the construction of the center, which will in November during the APEC meeting.

The nation’s second largest city hopes Busan will be better known around the world by attracting the APCN.
