Starting July 2, the discounted fare system for transfers between local buses and subways will be expanded to include village/neighborhood buses as well across Busan City. Since the free local bus to local bus transfer started in 2006, the public transport transfer system has been successfully completed in 3 years, and will dramatically reduce transportation costs for ordinary citizens along with providing much greater convenience when using the public transportation.

According to Busan City, under the expanded system, the number of transfers allowed between local buses, subways and village buses will be limited to twice, as before. Also, transfers have to be made within 30 minutes (or 60 minutes for buses operating infrequently at intervals of greater than 30 minutes) of alighting from the previous one.

Transportation card holders (those not paying the fare in cash) transferring between a local bus, a village/neighborhood bus and a subway will pay as follows: The basic charge will be the highest fare of the different transport modes used on the entire journey. In addition, the transfer discount fare of 200 won for adults, 130 won for youths, and 50 won for children will be charged once on transfers to another mode of transport. Transfer from local bus to local bus or village/neighborhood bus to village/neighborhood bus will be free. However, transfer to another bus traveling on the same bus route is not eligible for a transfer fare discount.

In expanding the transfer system to include village/neighborhood buses, Busan City partially readjusted village/neighborhood bus and local bus routes. 6 new routes have been created in areas of high demand and 15 routes have been adjusted to allow for easier access to the subway network.
