Wärtsilä, the Finnish manufacturer of diesel engines, will significantly increase investment and employment at its office and workshop in Busan by next year.
According to Busan Metropolitan City, Wärtsilä Korea Ltd., a fully-owned subsidiary of Wärtsilä Corporation in Finland, is scheduled to open a high-tech office building, with a total floor area of 17,000 square meters, at Eomgung-dong, Sasang-gu District this coming August. This building will be utilized as a training center, providing training programs related to shipping technology, and a service office for the company’s products.
For the construction of the office building, the company is investing a total of 8.2 billion won, including 6.2 billion won this year and 2 billion won next year, and is hiring 120 people between now and the end of the year. Wärtsilä

Hur Nam-sik, Busan City Mayor and Mr. Ole Johansson, the president and CEO of the company met on June 7 at the Westin Chosun Hotel, in Haeundae, and discussed the expansion of investment in Wärtsilä’s head office in Busan as well as the creation of new jobs.
