The 2nd Busan Port Lighting Festival will be held from November 11th till November 20th in the heart of the old downtown area, including parts of Jung-gu, Seo-gu, and Yeongdo-gu districts.

Under the theme of “A light of Hope”, a large-scale illuminated artwork will be installed at Songdo Beach.

People can walk towards the artwork, which is floating on the sea, and float a lantern carrying their wishes to the middle of the artwork.

Lighting exhibitions – a creative lantern exhibit, a photo exhibit featuring night-time views of Busan, and a sculpture exhibit – will take place at Songdo Beach as well.

Illuminations and artworks will be set up in former downtown areas as well as on Songdo Beach.

In addition, a variety of side events, including hot-air balloon rides (Nov.12–13, 6p.m.-10p.m., Songdo Beach), Jwibulnori (a traditional Korean game), the making of hope lamps, glow in the dark paintings, a night market, and more – are scheduled to be held.

An official of the festival’s organizing committee said, “The Busan Port Lighting Festival aims to promote local culture and art, and to invigorate the local economy” and added, “We hope that the festival turns itself into one of Busan’s most popular late autumn festivals”
