Film festivals and music performances to be held to celebrate the opening of the Busan Cinema Center.

To celebrate the opening of the Busan Cinema Center, film festivals and music performances will take place at the Busan Cinema Center during November and December.

 

The film festival will screen about 220 films in the following categories - 100 great movies in 100 years, Carte Blanche; movie screenings, lectures and talks with movie professionals, animated films, epic films, great movies of the 21st century, memorable Korean films, Cinematheque Busan’s audience picks, and special films for the 50th Critics Week of the Cannes Film Festival - from November 10 through December 31, for two months.

 

Various genres of films including Roman Holiday, Godfather, Doctor Zhivago, The Ten Commandments, The Adventures of Prince Achmed, Millennium Actress, The Vampires, As Tears Go By and many more are scheduled to be screened.

 

Aiming to promote the regular use of Busan Cinema Center by Busan Citizens, movie tickets will cost just 3,000 won per movie, cheaper than tickets at regular movie theaters.

 

Starting with Paik Hae-seon’s Piano Recital with the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra on November 22, 6 concerts including a Stefan Pi Jackiw Violin Recital (Nov. 25), a Cello concerto by Jung Myeong-hwa (Nov. 29), Paik Kun-woo’s Piano Recital (Dec. 10), Oh Jeong-hae and Kim Deok-su’s Ensemble Sinawi (Dec. 14) and a performance of the musical Guys and Dolls (Dec. 31, 2011/Jan. 1, 2012) are scheduled to be held as well.
