Feel Global Busan! : Global Gathering 2011 to be held at APEC Naru Park on October 22.

Busan Foundation for International Activities (BFIA) will host the Global Gathering 2011 at APEC Naru Park in Haeundae on October 22, 2011.

 

Under the theme of “Feel Global Busan!”, the Global Gathering is for all citizens of Busan, whether Koreans or foreigners, to experience culture, traditions and food from all around the world and to engage in cultural exchange. 111 booths of 74 groups from 32 countries including foreign missions, foreigner communities and foreign schools will participate in the event and the festival will be composed of 4 zones – the Multicultural Booth Zone, the Global Stage, the Multicultural Experience Zone, and the Information & Counseling Zone.

 

The highlights of each zone are follows:

 

Multicultural Booth Zone

-Experience different cultures and customs here, as well as useful information on life in the 32 pariticipating countries and groups from around the world – including the Swiss Honorary Consulate, Embassy of the Republic of Guatemala in Korea, Philippine Cultural Center of Busan, Consulate of the United States in Busan, Busan Foreign School, Busan International Women's Association, and Busan Overseas Chinese Association

-Taste the delicious traditional food of each of the participating countries, such as Turkish Kebabs, Japanese Takoyaki, Vietnamese rice noodles and American hamburgers and hotdogs.

 

Global Stage

Enjoy various folk performances and traditional music from around the world.

-Traditional folk performances from Shimonoseki and Fukuoka (Japan), and Vladivostok (Russia). 

-Fusion dance and music performances by foreigner community groups and bands.

 

Multicultural Experience Zone

-   Try on traditional costumes from around the world including Japan, China and the Philippines

-   Experience various traditional Korean cultures including Yut-nori (a traditional board game) and Jegi-chagi (a Korean shuttlecock game)

 

Information & Counseling Zone 

-       Consultation on legal and daily issues and other problems will be offered by Busan Immigration Office, Busan Regional Ministry of Employment and Labor, and Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education.

-       Various events: face painting, balloon art, etc.
