The 27th annual Polar Bear Swim will take place on January 12, 2014, at Haeundae Beach. This unique event is held every year to help fend off the cold winter weather as well as to pray for good health in the New Year.
Before braving frigid waters, all participants will take part in warm up exercises held on the beach, after which point they will run into the water and swim some 80 meters before coming back to shore. For those not taking part in the swim itself, there will be plenty of things to enjoy including writing New Year’s resolutions as well as taking pictures with various polar bear and penguin models setup for visitor’s enjoyment.
Registration for the Polar Bear Swim 2014 will take place from December 3 - 27, 2013. The registration fee is 20,000 won.
