With
spring coming up, the Busan English Broadcasting (Busan e-FM) radio station
will greet listeners with an overhaul. The revamp will include the enlargement
of its frequency band, the expansion of Chinese shows and the overall
modification of programs.
By
adding the new frequency band FM 103.3MHz to the existing FM 90.5MHz, the local
radio station will be heard in areas such as northern and western Busan, along
with Gijang and Jeonggwan. The channel is also seeking to resolve its reception
problem by installing three transmitters in Noksan, Jeonggwan and Gijang.
As
a result, Busan English Broadcasting’s reception rate has jumped from 67
percent to 82 percent in the overall Busan area and from 38 percent to 92
percent in the western part of the city, meaning that it has significantly
improved its reception problems.
Moreover,
its foreign-language broadcasting will be increased. The Chinese show that used
to air from 9 p.m. till 10 p.m. every day will be extended to become a two-hour
program, airing from 8 p.m.
This
is part of Busan’s specialized program to cater to the ever-increasing number
of Chinese tourists in the city.
The
news and tourism program targeting Chinese nationals has a high impact as it
delivers major Busan-related news, details on the latest festivals, events,
tourism information and local Chinese news in partnership with China’s Qingdao
Broadcasting Company. In the future, more foreign-language programs will launch
such as Japanese and Vietnamese shows for multicultural families.
On
top of these, the much-loved “Let’s Talk Busan” will be revamped to become
“NewsRoom 905,” which will air for one hour on Fridays from 7 p.m. It is a
current affairs program that deals with big-ticket issues related with the
city.
“NewsRoom
905” is a place that shares perspectives, ideas and voices with a fresh take on
the issues that affect Busan. The program will disseminate hot weekly news
under names such as “News Highlights” and “Busan Weekly” and will provide a
place to analyze regional issues with experts.
Host
Yoo Lian brings her wealth of experience, both national and international, to
stories that people from Busan are talking about.
The
host of the program said, “NewsRoom 905 will be the best news magazine program
that wraps up the week. Don’t forget to stay tuned to NewsRoom 905 on Fridays!”
