City draws int'l diabetes meeting

Busan has also succeeded in attracting the 8th IDFWPR Congress, a global diabetes conference to be held in 2010 by beating out Singapore.

 

  The meeting will be held at Bexco in Oct. 4-5, 2010, attended by an estimated 5,000 people from 22 countries to raise up to 10 billion won ($10 million). Large-scale, high value-added international medical conferences have so far been held in Seoul, but Busan's hosting of the upcoming diabetes conference is expected to serve as an occasion for the city to become a major venue for global medical congresses.

 

The International Diabetes Federation's West Pacific Regional Congress is held every other year to facilitate the exchange of information on the treatment, prevention and management of diabetes, under the auspices of the global diabetes body.
