4 industrial complexes for foreign investors

Mieum and Hwajeon in Gangseo, Namyang and Nammun in Jinhae


 

The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority, or BJFEZ, has decided to develop four additional industrial complexes for foreign investors at the Busan New Port and its free economic zone to meet a growing demand amid steady inflow of foreign investment.


The authority has posted as complexes for foreign investors two areas in Gangseo-gu District, Busan - Mieum and Hwajeon - and another two in Jinhae, Gyeongsangnam-do -Namyang and Nammun - in the free economic zone, after getting approval from the authorities concerned last February. The body plans to launch construction of one on 330,000 square meters of the 3.6 million square meters at the Mieum area around the end of this year to accommodate foreign investors who will accompany high-tech industries and research and development or R&D.


The authority will also supply 135,500 square meters of the total 245,000 square meters at Hwajeon area, of which 52 percent has already progressed since the inception in 2006.

BJFEZ has also set aside 16,600 square meters for foreign investors of the total 277,000 square meters at Namyang area, which it has been purchasing from landowners, following the approval of the drawing of execution in August last year.


It will also develop 53,000 square meters for similar purpose of the total 1.06 million square meters at Nammun area from May and complete the work in 2010.


The authority will also seek to form favorable environment for foreign investors, such as easing regula tion on foreign investment, extending beneficiaries of tax break through revision of relevant laws.
