Designers from around the world will gather once again in the port city of Busan late this month to unveil their 2008/09 Fall & Winter Collection at the Pret-a-Porter Busan. The fashion show, which was once an annual affair, was expanded to two shows a year in 2007, and the upcoming F/W collection is just the second of its kind to be held in Busan.

Opening the three-day affair at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center on April 29 is the always anticipated collection of Andre Kim, who is said to have been inspired by the landscape and flora of Siberia and the Lake Baikal region. In addition to Kim, five other Korean designers will have their works showcased, including Lee Moon-hee with her "Dark Angel" theme and Kim Don-soon, whose collection will reflect the "Eccentric and Basic."

An eclectic display of fashion is expected from Seoul designer Ha Sang-beg with his "Space Indian vs. Ninja" theme, while the fashion duo known as "Dou.ze" brings a collection designed to empower women. Busan's own Jo Myung-rye will close out the show on May 1 with a colorful display which will be a departure from most F/W collections.

In between, the works of five foreign designers will also make their way down the catwalk. The Asian powerhouses of Japan, China and Taiwan are all represented - by Kohshin Satoh, Liu Wei and Gioia Pan, respectively. Their collections are expected to reveal the different directions that designers in this region are taking. A pair of Parisian designers, Theresa Flores and Christophe Guillarme, will also display their collections at the Pret-a-Porter.

While the shows are the centerpiece of the event, the designers' work is only part of what fashion is. Understanding fashion trends and the workings of the industry is just as important - if not more so - as the clothing itself, and the Pret-a-Porter will also hold a pair of fashion talks, dubbed "Promostyl." Amateurs and professionals in the fashion industry alike are invited to the seminars which will feature experts in the field.

The Pret-a-Porter Busan 2008/09 Fall & Winter Collection fashion shows will be held from April 29 to May 1 at the third floor of the BEXCO convention center. "Promostyl" fashion talks will be held at 11 a.m. on April 30 and May 1. For more information, visit papbusan.com
