Sajik Gymnasium to hold opening-closing ceremony

 

The city is heating itself up for the successful hosting of the 2008 Busan World Trex-Games, making preparations slowly but surely.

 

Busan City and the World Trex-Games Organizing Committee, led by Mayor Hur Nam-sik, are spreading enthusiasm for the Games' success through a series of events; holding a citizens' festival; activating a cultural volunteer corps and student public relations squad; and sponsoring a citizens'walkathon and various cultural performances. All these are designed to unite citizens in the run-up to the global athletic festival, creating a commitment to its success and reconfirming the city's determination to the nation and the world.

 

The city and the committee have also fixed the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies for the World Trex-Games. Sajik Gymnasium was chosen as the venue, reflecting the organizers intention of holding the event splendidly but economically.

 

They also launched a preparatory committee for the successful hosting of the 6th IOC, or Internatinal Olympic Commission, Forum for Sports, Education and Culture, which will open ahead of the World Trex-Games.

 

The preparatory committee consists of 16 members representing the city, the Korea Olympic Commission, the World Trex-Games Organizing Committee and related government officials.

 

It recently held an inaugural assembly to begin operations. The IOC forum, one of the three biggest events of the amateur sports' world governing body, will be held at BEXCO and Nurimaru APEC House on Dongbaek Island in Sept. 25-29.
