Busan International Performing Arts Festival Organizing Committee announced that the concept of this year's festival is 'Hello Asia!' and will highlight Asia's performing arts featuring both tradition and change.
Busan International Performing Arts Festival (BIPAF) will take place from May 4-13 at Busan Cultural Center, Busan Citizens' Hall, Kyungsung University Concert Hall and other locations in Busan. Some 12 performances from seven different countries have been invited to be presented at the festival. A variety of performance categories including the BIPAF CONCEPT (performances under the festival theme), BIPAF OPEN (other outstanding performances), Go, Avignon OFF! (a competition to select performances which will participate at France's Avignon OFF Festival in 2013), 10-minute Plays, Street Showcase and a workshop are all scheduled to be held.
The new concept, 'Hello, Asia!', reflects the quest to find ways in which performing arts in Asia can manage to keep their traditions while at the same time adapting to changing contemporary values. The concept will also focus participants minds on the need to identify commonalities which unite all Asians.
Performance schedules will be posted on the BIPAF website in March.
