The Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) is due to complete its expansion project in June 2012.

The main exhibition hall and a new 20,000 square meter exhibition hall will be connected by a pedestrian overpass.

The new exhibition hall is located by the Busan Museum of Art and a 4,000-seat auditorium will be connected to the main building of BEXCO. When the project is completed, the newly-expanded 46,457 square meter BEXCO will become a multi-purpose international conference & exhibition facility capable of hosting not only exhibitions and conferences but also cultural, art and music events. It will be the second largest exhibition facility in the country after the KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do.

The pedestrian overpass connecting the main exhibition hall with the new exhibition hall will span the APEC-ro that passes between the main BEXCO building and the Busan Museum of Art. Six moving walkways will be installed inside the tube-shaped overpass for pedestrians’ comfort and convenience. In addition, the illuminations adorning the pedestrian overpass are expected to become a new attraction in Centum City.

Busan, ranked the fourth most popular international convention city in Asia, started the BEXCO expansion project in 2010 to meet the projected future demand for international conferences and exhibitions. With a total investment of 191.5 billion won, the 20,000 meter square exhibition hall, 4,002-seat auditorium and 2,089 car parking spaces are scheduled to be completed in June 2012. The project is now 75 percent complete.
