The Visit Korea Committee and Korail Tourism Development will start offering KTX tickets with discounts of up to 30 percent through December 2012 as another incentive to encourage people to visit the city during this period.

The discounts, which are available to foreign tourists, will be available on all routes along the Gyeongbu and Honam lines. Interested parties can purchase their tickets via the Visit Korea Year web site (www.visitkoreayear.com) by following the instructions for on-line reservations. The tickets can be collected at designated ticket offices < See table>.

Reservations can be made on tickets for travel between 10 and 30 days after the booking date, and up to four tickets can be booked at any one time.

The discounts do not apply for “couple seats” and are not available during traditional holidays such as Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) and Seolnal (Lunar New Year’s Day). After the reservation process has been completed and the tickets issued, purchasers cannot change the time or date of the ticket. Those who cancel within three days prior to the departure date will have to pay a 20 percent cancellation fee.

Meanwhile, tickets for a Korean Wave-themed train ride dubbed the “Hallyu Tourism Train,” which runs from Seoul Station to Chuncheon and Nami Island, will be 10 percent cheaper until March 2012.

Furthermore, the committee is providing various kinds of incentive services to attract foreign tourists. It will also run a One More Night Promotion with domestic hotels, giving guests one complimentary night’s stay when they book three or four nights.
