Busan City has announced that it has been selected as the venue of the International Stereoscopic Union 2015 Congress at the ISU 2011 Congress in Egmond aan Zee, in the Netherlands. Through the efforts of Busan City, Busan Convention & Visitors Bureau and the BEXCO, Busan has been unanimously selected by 30 member countries, the first time that an Asian venue has been selected.
The International Stereoscopic Union (ISU) was founded in 1975 and is the only international 3D association in the world. The ISU is a club of 3D enthusiasts as well as a club of stereo clubs. ISU membership currently numbers more than 900, from 38 countries world-wide.
3D-Photography, 3D Video Imaging, Computer Stereo, Holography, Virtual Reality and other stereoscopic photography techniques are those frequently used by members of the ISU.
The ISU 2015 Congress is scheduled to be held in August or September, 2015 and about 2,500 people from around 40 countries will participate at the event.
Busan City expects that hosting the ISU 2015 Congress in Busan will not only aid in the development of its own 3D industry but also help with the development of the regional 3D industry as a whole.
A 3D broadcasting and imaging society academic conference will be held during the ISU 2015, as well.
