Busan City announced that the City has reached agreement with Busan Bank on the exemption of money transfer charges for Busan-based marriage migrants. When Busan-based marriage migrants transfer money internationally to their parents or other family members, remittance fees will be exempted regardless of the amount of money being transferred, from September 1. Telegram charges, however, of 8,000 won will still have to be paid by migrants.

In addition, the bank will offer them a better foreign exchange rate.

In order to receive these benefits, marriage migrants need to present an official piece of identification such as their alien registration card, resident registration certificate or family relation certificate.

A city official said, “We expect that these benefits for marriage migrants will help to ease the financial burden on families as they adjust to daily life in Busan.”
