Busan Gal∙Maet∙Gil Walking Festival 2011 to take place from October 7-15, 2011

The Gal∙Maet∙Gil Walking Festival will take place around Busan City from October 7 to 15, 2011. The event will include 6 different kinds of walks, including moonlight, coastal and forest walks, as well as a seminar.

 

Gal∙Maet∙Gil are specially designated footpaths around Busan. The name combines two words, ‘seagull’ and ‘path’. To promote the city’s beautiful footpaths, a Gal∙Maet∙Gil symbol and logo have been developed. They are used on the Gal∙Maet∙Gil information boards and path maps and signs.

Citizens’ Gal∙Maet∙Gil Walks

Opening Walk

○ Date & Time: October 8, 2011 2 p.m. ~ 6 p.m.

○ Gathering Place: Oncheoncheon Stream (Outdoor Stage, Pusan Nat’l University Metro Station, Exit 3)

○ Course: Outdoor Stage, Pusan Nat’l Univ. Metro Station, Exit 3 (Opening Ceremony)→ Saebyeong-gyo Bridge → Ujeong Bridge → Busan Environmental Corporation

 

Green Walks across Busan’s 15 districts and 1 county

○ Date: October 8 ~9, 2011

○ Venues: Busan’s 15 districts and 1 county

○ About 7,000 participants expected

 

Mountain Walking Trail on Mt. Hwangnyeongsan and Mt. Geumnyeonsan, after some cultural art performances

○ Date & Time: Sunday, October 9, 2011 2:00 p.m. ~

○ Course: Kyungsung University → Windy Hill at Mt. Hwangnyeongsan → Geumnyeonsan Youth Center  

○ Program: Cultural art performances at Kyungsung University, walking the trails on Mt. Hwangnyeongsan and Mt. Geumnyeonsan

 

4-Day Walk

Busan City is ideally located by the mountains, rivers, ocean and hot springs.

From October 10-13, for 4 days, a walking event will be held along paths connecting the coastal, riverside and forested areas of Busan.

 

○ Period: October 10 ~ 13, 2011

○ About 100 participants are expected to participate

○ Fee: 30,000 won

Gijang County Office → Jukseong → Daebyeon → Songjeong → Mipo → Haeundae → Dongbaekseom Island → Suyeong Yachting Center → Suyeong River → Hoedong Reservoir → Seondong Village → Yeongrak Park → Cheongryong-dong → Beomeosa Temple → North Gate of Geumjeongsanseong Mountain Fortress → East Gate → Hwamyeong Arboretum → Dacheoncheon → Hwamyeong Bridge → Gupo Station → Samnak Riverside → Nakdong Bridge → Maekdo Park → Eulsukdo Island ( total 88.6km )

- Day 1: Coastal Paths of Daebyeon and 3 ports (Mipo, Cheongsapo, Gudeokpo) (23.6km)
- Day 2: Suyeong River, Heodong Reservoir (25km)
- Day 3: Yeongrak Park, Mt. Geumjeong (19km)
- Day 4: Nakdong River, Eulsukdo (21km)

Meditation Walk at Beomeosa Temple on Mt. Geumjeongsan

○ Date & Time: October 12 / October 14, 2011 10 a.m. ~ 2:30 p. m.

○ Gathering Place: Entrance to Gyeongdong Apartments, Cheongnyong-dong

○ Fee: 5,000 won

Moonlight Walk at Mt. Cheonmasan (Closing Event)

○ Date & Time: October 15, 2011 5:00 p.m. ~

○ Gathering Place: Bumin Campus, Donga University  

○ Course: Bumin Campus, Donga University → Kkachi Hill → Gamcheon Hill → Seokseong Bongsudae Peak on Mt. Cheonmasan → Observatory → Sculpture Park → Songdo Beach
