The Korean government has introduced revamped social distancing guidelines that are set to take effect in July 2021.

However, Busan will implement the new social distancing guidelines for a trial period from June 24 to 30th (1 week) in the Busan area ahead of the nationwide launch set for next month.

The key indicator used to distinguish levels is to be revised from the average daily number of new domestic confirmed cases per week to the average daily number of new domestic confirmed cases per 100,000 people per week. Level 1 will be applied when the rate of new confirmed cases is less than one in 100,000. Recently, the average daily number of new domestic confirmed cases in Busan area has been 14.6, which satisfies Level 1 guidelines. Therefore, the new social distancing level will be set at 1 for the Busan area starting June 24, 2021.

During the trial operation period (June 24-30), the city will allow private gatherings of up to 8 persons, but the current level 1.5 social distancing guidelines in the Busan area will remain the same (except private gatherings restrictions) due to the one week trial period being short.
