Busan’s Seven Beaches Ready to Open from July 1

A briefing session on the operation of public beaches during the summer season was held on June 17 at Busan City Hall in order to complete preparations prior to their opening on July 1.


The briefing session aimed to establish how best to deliver a safe and pleasant beach experience for beachgoers.

Preparations in the following areas were thoroughly discussed:

△ Disinfecting beaches and their facilities regularly

△ Safety·transportation·security

△ Improving beach facilities, including restrooms, shower booths, footbath areas and more

△ Preventing price gouging on accommodation, food and beach parasol and tube rentals.


Haeundae and Songjeong Beaches are open to the public from June 1 to August 31. Gwangalli, Songdo, Dadaepo, Ilgwang and Imnang Beaches are scheduled to open from July 1 to August 31 this year. The official opening date of the seven beaches in Busan is July 1. Haeundae and Songjeong Beaches are partially open in June.


The city of Busan is taking preventive measures at beaches in Busan in a bid to prevent the spread of COVID-19 under the distancing in daily life guidelines for beaches released by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.


Each beach plans to follow the guidelines as below:

△ Operate COVID-19 response teams at the beaches in Busan

△ Set up beach parasols more than two meters apart

△ Refrain from events at the beaches, including opening events of the beaches

△ Promote distancing on the beaches to the public

△ Enhance cleaning and disinfection of beach facilities

△ Install boxes on the beaches for visitors to provide their contact information in case of COVID-19 outbreaks
