The Asia Sailing Festival 2019 will take place from April 29 to May 19, 2019 at the Haeundae Yachting Center. The festival is hosted by Busan Metropolitan City and organized by the Busan Yacht Association.
The schedule of the yacht races during the three-week festival are:
24th Japan Friendship Arirang Yacht Race: April 29 – May 3
14th Busan Super Cup International Yacht Race: May 3 - May 5
20th Busan Mayors Cup Yacht Race: May 17 - May 19
The Arirang Yacht Race has been held every other year since 1973 as an offshore race. Three Korean teams and nine Japanese teams will complete the non-powered yacht race, sailing from Odo Yacht Harbour in Fukuoka to the Yachting Center in Busan this year from April 29 to May 3rd.
The 14th Busan Super Cup International Yacht Race is the popular main inshore race event at the festival with 35 competing teams from 8 countries, including Japan, Russia, the United States, England and India out on the sea around the Yachting Center and Gwangandaegyo Bridge. It is the biggest international yachting competition in Korea.
The 20th Busan Mayor’s Cup Yacht Race is a dinghy race for amateur and elite racers. About 150 participants will compete in eight competitive events.
