To
commemorate the 2017 ASEAN-ROK Cultural Exchange Year, Busan Film Commission
and Busan Asian Film School will hold a FLY Film Festival will be held from
October 13(Fri.) to 15(Sun.) at Busan Community Media Center.
FLY
film festival will be screening a total of 32 films(4 feature films, 22 short
films), consisting 10 short films produced during the last five editions of the
‘ASEAN-ROK Film Leaders Incubator: FLY’ program, and films made by FLY alumni
who achieved recognition at the international film festivals around the world.
Moreover, we would like to have a conversation from various points of view
about FLYers growth story after FLY through the Forum “Round Table” and to
present "Case Study" of international co-production and its future outlook
and discuss the way to induce vitalization of international co-production.
Especially,
FLY Film Festival will be held in the same period with the Busan International
Film Festival, so we expect to show the great steps of FLY’s alumni as well as
promoting Fly ‘ASEAN-ROK Film Leaders Incubator: FLY’ program. Also, we are
looking forward to visualize potential at our festival, to screen these
festival films which are the future of ASEAN films. FLY Film Festival opening
on October 13th, 2017(Open hall, Busan Community Media Center), and a rising
new director, Carlo Enciso CATU from the Philippines will present his first
feature film My Life with a King will screen. The Screening of FLY Film
Festival will be free admission by order of arrival.
However,
FLY, commemorating its 5th anniversary this year and has been selected as
Ministry of Foreign Affair’s ROK-ASEAN cooperative project for 6 consecutive
years, is a short-filmmaking workshop and mentoring program which discovers
young Asian filmmakers around 10 ASEAN countries, Korea and establishes
networks for international co-production so that various movies can be made
within regions. FLY2017 will be held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia from November
20(Mon.) to December 3(Sun.), selected 22 trainees from 11 countries will be
having online pre-production with directing mentors from September 18(Mon.).
