The
ASEAN Culture House (ACH) opens in Haeundae New Town, on the first day of
September. The project began as the result of discussions during the 2014 ASEAN
Commemorative Summit. The cultural house broke ground on a 2,640 square-meter
land in Haeundae-gu in March 2016 and a 4-story ACH building with two
underground levels was completed in July 2017.
The ASEAN Culture House includes exhibition halls, storage, a memorial
hall, a multimedia room, a 200-seat theater, culture experience area, and a
conference room.
The
opening ceremony of the ASEAN Culture House will be held on September 1, 2017
at 10 a.m. with about 500 delegates attending, including Busan Mayor Suh
Byung-soo, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Kyung-wha, 10 foreign affairs ministers
from ASEAN member states, members of the National Assembly for Busan,
multicultural families and local citizens.
The
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Busan City, the ASEAN-Korea Centre, the Korea
Foundation and BFIC are working together to successfully settle the ASEAN
Culture House in Korea to play a crucial role in exchanges with ASEAN
countries. The ASEAN Culture House is expected to be a place where one can
experience various ASEAN cultures with their unique features and information.
