Global Cultural Festival with Citizens: “2025 International Student Festival in Busan” to Be Held

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will hold the “2025 International Student Festival in Busan” from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. today (November 7) at the Kyungsung University Memorial Hall Ground.

The event is hosted by Busan Metropolitan City and jointly organized by the Busan Global City Foundation (CEO Jeon Yong-woo), Kyungsung University (President Lee Jong-geun), Busan University of Foreign Studies (President Jang Soon-heung), and the International Student Forum (ISF, Chairman Lee Seung-ryul).

This festival has been newly launched this year to provide opportunities for international students and citizens to communicate and share diverse cultures, including the Korean alphabet, Hangeul. It will be held under the theme “Hangeul, A Global Language: Telling My Story.”

The event will be a hands-on global cultural festival where both international students and local citizens participate together, creating a platform of unity that transcends language and fosters a sense of community.

Major stage events include Challenge! Jiphyeonjeon Golden Bell, the Korean Song Contest for International Students, and K-POP performances. At the K-Playground Zone, visitors can enjoy sports activities such as the K-Sports Day Blue-and-White Team Match and a Squid Game Real Experience Zone inspired by the popular drama Squid Game.

The Experience Zone will feature programs such as the Hangeul Typing Challenge, Korean Traditional Costume Experience, and Multicultural Booths. In addition, side events such as the World Food Market, Pop-up Stores, and Social Media Events will offer a wide range of attractions and experiences for participants.

Kim Gui-ok, Director General of the Youth and University Cooperation Bureau, stated, “This festival will serve as a platform for communication and cultural exchange between international students and citizens. As it marks its first year, we aim to develop it into a signature global student festival representing Busan.”

She added, “International students are valuable partners of ‘Global Hub City Busan,’ and the city will continue to enhance its support policies, including establishing a one-stop support system for international students.”
