Busan Metropolitan City Recruits Trainees for the "4th Busan Trade Rookie Program" to Foster Young Trade Talent

The Busan Metropolitan City announced that, in collaboration with the Busan Economic Promotion Agency (President Song Bok-cheol) and the Korea International Trade Association (Busan Regional Office, Director Kwon Do-gyeom), it is recruiting trainees for the 4th Busan Trade Rookie Program to nurture local young trade talent.

• ●Now in its fourth year, the Busan Trade Rookie Program offers practical trade education, on-site industrial experiences, and employment linkage opportunities,
  serving as Busan’s flagship trade talent training initiative.

• ●The city will select 55 participants from among local unemployed youth and university students (3rd–4th year) to take part in the seven-month program from June to December 2025.

Over the past three years, the program has produced 144 trade rookies,
of which 98 have been hired by local companies or export-related organizations, achieving an impressive average employment rate of 73%.

• ●In particular, the employment rate within the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region reached 59%, with job placements expanding to Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, and even overseas.

• ●A notable success story: Ms. Kim (27), a 3rd cohort graduate, shared,
  "By sincerely participating in the Trade Rookie Program, I gained confidence in the trade field and successfully joined DRB Dongil, a mid-sized regional company."

Program Overview:

• ●June: Practical Trade Training (Online)

• ●July: Mock Export Consultations and Overseas Marketing Competition (Busan Trade Center)

• ●July–August: Industrial Site Visits (Gumi, Pohang)

• ●August–December: Participation in job fairs and employment consulting

Eligibility:

• ●Korean nationals who are unemployed and residing in Busan, or university students (3rd–4th year).

Benefits for Selected Trainees:

• ●Up to 100,000 KRW per person to cover trade certification and English speaking test fees

• ●English speaking preparation classes and personalized career counseling

• ●Trainees must pay a 25,000 KRW participation fee upon final selection.

Additional Opportunities:

• ●Those who pass the International Trade Specialist Level 1 certification and maintain at least 90% attendance will receive a certificate from the KITA Trade Academy.

• ●The top 18 high-performing trainees will have the opportunity to participate in international exhibitions abroad alongside regional companies, offering direct exposure to the global trade environment.
