Anonymous Elderly Donor Contributes 15 Million KRW to Support the Homeless in Busan

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that on April 25, an anonymous senior citizen donated 15 million KRW to support homeless individuals in Busan.

Despite their advanced age, the donor personally visited the city’s Social Welfare Bureau to deliver the donation in cash, which was subsequently entrusted to the Busan Community Chest of Korea.

Motivated by a spirit of care and concern for vulnerable groups in the community, the elderly donor wished to remain anonymous.

Notably, this donor also contributed 10 million KRW in 2022 for the same purpose, demonstrating a consistent commitment to sharing.

The donation will be used to support food expenses and related needs for homeless facilities operated by the city.

Jung Tae-gi, Director of the Social Welfare Bureau of Busan Metropolitan City, stated,

"The spirit of giving demonstrated by a senior citizen who has dedicated their life to our society delivers a profound message and serves as a meaningful example for future generations."

He added,

"This donation is a precious opportunity to raise awareness about vulnerable groups such as the homeless and is expected to greatly contribute to stabilizing their lives and enhancing their welfare.
Going forward, our city will continue to work with the private sector to spread the culture of sharing and to actively discover new welfare resources."
