Busan Partners with S&I Corporation to Boost the Local Data Center Industry

On April 23, the Busan Metropolitan City signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with S&I Corporation and the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (BIPA) to revitalize the local data center industry. The ceremony took place at the City Hall International Protocol Room and was attended by Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs Lee Jun-seung, S&I CEO Hyeong Won-jun, and BIPA President Kim Tae-yeol.

Founded in 1975 and headquartered in Seoul, S&I Corporation is Korea’s top data center operations specialist, currently managing over 20 domestic and international centers. The company reported KRW 830.6 billion in revenue in 2024.

This agreement aims to develop an eco-friendly data center ecosystem in Busan, centered around the Eco Delta Smart City Green Data Center Cluster. Under the MOU:

• ●S&I Corporation will promote various collaborative projects to advance the regional data center industry.

• ●Busan City and BIPA will provide administrative support for these initiatives.

S&I Corporation’s contributions will include:

• ●Technical consultations and expertise sharing on core data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, security, and fire safety systems,

• ●Infrastructure efficiency consulting for existing and future data centers,

• ●Hands-on field training and educational programs for practical workforce development,

• ●Professional talent development and job creation to support local employment.

Vice Mayor Lee Jun-seung stated, 

“This partnership with Korea’s premier data center operations firm, S&I Corporation, will not only benefit businesses moving into the Eco Delta City cluster, but also serve as a critical milestone in revitalizing Busan’s overall data center industry. We will continue to concentrate our efforts on establishing Busan as a leading city in the digital economy.”
