Busan City Launches Safety Inspections for Unregistered Senior Centers

Starting this April, The Busan Metropolitan City is conducting a comprehensive safety inspection of 110 unregistered senior centers across the city, in partnership with the Busan Social Service Agency, under a newly signed service agreement.

Unregistered senior centers are facilities that do not meet the registration criteria defined under the Welfare of Senior Citizens Act, such as a minimum user capacity of 20 people, a lounge area of at least 20㎡, restrooms, and appropriate electrical installations.

Many of these facilities operate in unauthorized buildings or movable containers, making them vulnerable to fire and electrical hazards. The inspections will focus on these key areas and will be conducted by specialized institutions.

After the inspections, the results will be submitted to the city through the Busan Social Service Agency and shared with each district and county office. Follow-up monitoring and management will also be conducted to ensure ongoing safety improvements.
