The Busan Metropolitan City to Host 2025 Family-Friendly Certification Briefing Session

The Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon), in collaboration with the Family-Friendly Certification Secretariat (Korea Management Certification Institute), announced that it is accepting applications from companies and institutions wishing to attend the 2025 Family-Friendly Certification Briefing Session until 3:00 p.m. on April 29.

The session will take place on April 30 at 2:00 p.m. in the main conference hall of City Hall and is aimed at companies and institutions preparing for initial or renewal certification. It will provide information on the certification system’s objectives, evaluation criteria, renewal processes, and how to prepare the necessary documentation.

What is Family-Friendly Certification?
This certification, granted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family since 2008, recognizes companies and institutions that support work-life balance by implementing exemplary policies such as childbirth and parenting support, flexible working arrangements, and family-friendly workplace culture.

As of December 2024, 363 organizations in Busan were certified: 24 large companies, 275 small and medium-sized enterprises, and 64 public institutions.

Initial certification is valid for three years, with renewals requiring re-evaluation for either a two-year extension or a new three-year cycle.

Certified organizations benefit from:

• ●Use of the family-friendly certification mark on products and business cards, enhancing corporate image

• ●Additional points when applying for central or local government programs

• ●Preferential loan interest rates at BNK Busan Bank

• ●Reduced credit guarantee fees at the Busan Credit Guarantee Foundation

Employees of certified companies can also receive discounts on accommodations, admissions, and various services across cultural, recreational, medical, and lifestyle sectors.
As of April 2025, 49 incentive programs are available to certified companies and their employees.

Pre-registration is available online at www.ffsb.kr until April 29, and same-day registration will be accepted at the venue.
A work-life balance campaign will also be held on the day of the session to promote family-friendly workplace culture.
