Nurturing Future Cybersecurity Experts: 2025 Busan Regional Gifted Education Center for Information Security Holds Entrance Ceremony

On April 19 at 10:30 a.m., the Busan Metropolitan City Government (Mayor Park Heong-joon) held the entrance ceremony for the 4th cohort of the Busan Regional Gifted Education Center for Information Security (hereinafter “the Center”) at the Pukyong Convention Hall of Pukyong National University, officially launching its cybersecurity talent development program.

The ceremony was attended by approximately 100 participants, including 45 newly admitted students from local middle and high schools, their parents, and officials from the Center. Following the ceremony, a special lecture by a cybersecurity expert and class-specific orientation sessions were held, signaling the start of the spring semester.

This year’s program will operate three classes in total: two middle school classes (30 students) and one high school class (15 students).
Participants were selected through a rigorous screening process involving document review and interviews, targeting students in Busan with a strong interest in information security.

The entire program is provided free of charge with support from the City of Busan. Classes will be conducted from April to November at Pukyong National University. Outstanding students will be recognized with awards upon completion.

• ●Spring (April–July) and Fall Semesters (August–November) feature biweekly Saturday classes.

• ●Summer Session (late July–early August) includes a week-long intensive program with company field trips.

• ●The curriculum includes core theories and hands-on training in ▲Information Ethics ▲Basic Networking ▲Cryptography ▲Introductory Programming.

• ●Students will also participate in external cybersecurity competitions and research presentations, helping to build both their expertise and practical skills.

Cho Young-tae, Director-General of the City’s Bureau of Administrative Services, stated, “We hope all students grow into white-hat hackers with professional knowledge and ethical responsibility, becoming future leaders in cybersecurity,” and added, “The City will continue to actively support Busan as a leading hub for nurturing young talents in information security.”
