Busan City to Launch First Half of 2025 Citizen Education Program on Companion Animal Care

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will operate the 2025 Companion Animal Care Citizen Education Program, aiming to create a pet-friendly city, and is accepting applications for the first-half session until May 18.

This education program is designed to address the increasing number of pet owners by offering structured socialization education for companion animals. The goal is to reduce conflict between pet owners and non-pet owners, while spreading a culture of proper pet etiquette and mature care practices through hands-on programs involving companion dogs.

The program is hosted by Busan Metropolitan City and organized by the nonprofit organization Clear City without Abandoned Dogs, Busan.

The first-half education program will be held for eight weeks from June 1 to July 31 at Silla University, targeting Busan residents who are pet owners.

Each course consists of four weekly sessions, with morning and afternoon groups available. Each group is limited to 15 participants.

The program consists of two main courses:

• ●June: Companion Animal Behavioral Correction Education

• ●July: Companion Animal Socialization & Etiquette Education

In the Behavioral Correction Education, participants will learn:

• ●How to correct problematic behaviors such as barking and aggression

• ●How to improve emotional bonding with their dogs

In the Socialization & Etiquette Education, pet experts will provide training on:

• ●Basic manners

• ●Toilet training

• ●Health, grooming, and hygiene care

Enrollment will remain open until all spots are filled. The program is free of charge.
Participants are required to bring: a leash (under 2 meters), waste bags, and a muzzle (if necessary).
