Busan Museum of Art to Host the "BMA Future Museum Forum" at Loop Lab Busan

The Busan Museum of Art announced that it will host the “BMA Future Museum Forum”, an international academic seminar, from April 23 (Wed) to April 25 (Fri) at the Grand Josun Busan.

This forum is being held ahead of the museum’s reopening to discuss the direction for transitioning into a future-oriented art museum and to explore the public role of art.

The forum will address how art museums can respond to global crises such as the Fourth Industrial Revolution, environmental pollution, and the new Cold War, focusing on their evolving social roles and the development of future art platforms.

Key figures from art museums worldwide will gather to share practical strategies for shaping future-oriented museums and to discuss the development of joint international projects.

Main discussion topics include:

• ●Digitalization of museum collections and the establishment of a global sharing platform

• ●Creation of international technical standards for the preservation and restoration of media artworks

• ●Development of international art projects that go beyond biennales and art fairs, emphasizing practice, democracy, and community engagement

• ●Sharing strategies for museum activities and operations in response to environmental issues in the Anthropocene era*
  (*Anthropocene: a proposed epoch that highlights the impact of human activity on Earth’s geology and ecosystems)

Modeled after the globally renowned “Loop Barcelona,” Loop Lab Busan serves as an international digital media art platform that experiments with horizontal community solidarity. As the first of its kind in Asia, this alternative art event consists of:

The exhibitions and forums will be organized by the Busan Museum of Art, while the art fair will be planned and managed by the Korean cultural planning agency A Fluxtion, presenting a wide array of vibrant content.
