2025 Special Exchange Exhibition at Bokcheon Museum “Gaya Plus(+) Toon” to be held

The Bokcheon Museum, part of the Busan Metropolitan Museum, announced that it will hold the 2025 Special Exchange Exhibition titled “Gaya Plus(+) Toon” from April 15 (Tue) to August 10 (Sun).

Co-hosted with the National Gaya Museum, this exhibition is designed to make the history and culture of Gaya and the Bokcheondong Ancient Tombs more accessible and engaging to the public by utilizing popular media such as webtoons and illustrations.

The exhibition is composed of the following sections:

• ●Gaya Plus(+) Toon: Showcases award-winning webtoons based on the history and relics of Gaya.

• ●Gaya Plus(+) Illust: Displays award-winning illustrations with Gaya themes.

• ●Bokcheon Plus(+) Toon: Features webtoons themed around the Bokcheondong Ancient Tombs and excavated treasures, presented with the museum mascot “Bok-gooni” as the narrator.

The Gaya Plus(+) Toon section introduces 7 selected award-winning webtoons from the Gaya Webtoon Contest hosted by the National Gaya Museum, along with the relics featured in the comics.

The Gaya Plus(+) Illust section presents 8 selected illustration entries from the same contest.

The Bokcheon Plus(+) Toon section includes 5 webtoon episodes created under the concept of Bok-gooni, the museum’s turtle mascot, introducing the Bokcheondong Ancient Tombs and their artifacts.

In the experience zone, visitors can enjoy the Gaya Plus(+) Comic Room, where webtoons can be viewed in book and video format, and the Gaya Plus(+) Drawing area, where they can create their own Gaya-themed webtoons.

The exhibition, held at the Planning Exhibition Hall on the 1st floor of Bokcheon Museum, is open free of charge from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., except on Mondays when the museum is closed.

As a related side event, the museum will also run the education program “I’m a Webtoon Artist Too!”, part of its regular hands-on program “Bustling Bokcheon Workshop.”

This program is intended for elementary school children accompanied by their families, and will be held on the last Saturday of each month from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Participation is free. Applications can be submitted through the Busan City integrated reservation system (reserve.busan.go.kr) starting from Monday to Wednesday of the corresponding week.
