Domoheon Welcomes Its 200,000th Visitor Just Six Months After Opening – Special Event Held to Celebrate

Busan Metropolitan City announced that Domoheon, the city’s civic cultural complex that reopened to the public in September last year, celebrated its 200,000th visitor on April 6, just six months after opening.

A countdown event to welcome the milestone visitor was held at Domoheon, and the lucky 200,000th guest was awarded a specially made commemorative gift, along with a photo opportunity with Boogi, the city’s official mascot.

Domoheon was originally developed as a complex cultural space for citizens with an annual goal of 200,000 visitors. Thanks to overwhelming public support, it has already achieved this milestone in just half a year, establishing itself as one of Busan’s leading new cultural landmarks.

This special event was held to celebrate the achievement and thank citizens for their support, while reaffirming the city’s commitment to developing Domoheon as a space co-created with and for the public.

Since opening, Domoheon has welcomed an average of more than 1,300 daily visitors, with increasing popularity driven by media exposure and social media buzz.

Originally a mayoral residence symbolizing past authoritarianism, Domoheon has been reimagined as a space for citizens, under the concept of “Walk, Stay, and Remember.” It now serves as a platform for cultural programs, exhibitions, and daily inspiration.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of experiences, including:

• ●Scholarly and media exhibitions

• ●Educational lectures and talks, such as “Busan School” and “Busan Story,” featuring insights from local leaders

• ●Family-friendly content like film screenings, music performances, and interactive shows under the “SoSoPoong” program

Currently, the “SoSoPoong Festival” is underway through April 27, featuring spring-themed garden programs, jazz and classical performances, magic shows, mindfulness sessions, and a “SoSoPoong Garden Poetry Library.”
