Busan City Invites Submissions for the 2025 Summer Edition of the “Busan Culture Billboard

The City of Busan (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it is accepting submissions for the summer edition of the “Busan Culture Billboard,” which will be displayed on the exterior wall of Busan City Hall. The call for submissions runs from April 1 to April 18, 2025.

Launched in 2010, the “Busan Culture Billboard” project displays thoughtful, seasonal phrases proposed by citizens on the outer wall of City Hall. The project aims to infuse the building with a sense of cultural ambiance and serve as a platform for emotional connection with the public.

Anyone who loves Busan is welcome to participate. Submissions must be no more than 25 Korean characters and must either be original creations or quoted excerpts from literary works that convey hope, love, or human warmth.

Entries can be submitted in one of the following ways:

※ If quoting a source, the origin must be clearly cited.

Winning entries will be selected by a judging panel composed of members from the Busan Writers’ Association and the Future Design Headquarters. The final design will be posted on the eastern exterior wall of City Hall (27 meters wide × 8 meters high) from June to August 2025.

The grand prize winner will receive a cultural gift certificate worth KRW 500,000, and six runner-up entries will each receive a KRW 50,000 gift certificate.

Kim Yu-jin, Director-General of the Future Design Headquarters, stated,

“The ‘Busan Culture Billboard’ is like a window delivering seasonal messages that linger warmly in citizens’ daily lives. We hope this public call allows your sentiments and creativity to become part of Busan’s urban landscape.”
